High Standards, High Heels!

I am a really tall girl, 5″7, I mean its not really that tall to some but to me being that I was always the tall out of my group of friends. It was always hard for me to wear heels because I did not want to stand out at all. But as I have gotten older I have embraced my tallness and absolutely love heels. 1. Classic Jane, Saint Laurent classic ankle strap

2. Oh Really, Louis Vuitton pump

3. Pigalle Spikes, Christian Louboutin

4. Rockstud Heels, Valentino

5. Charlotte Olympia

6. Dorothy, Stuart Weitzman

7. Cinderella slipper, Jimmy Choo

8. Guiseppe Zanotti

9. Medallion Sandal, Louis Vuitton

10. Golden Hour Sandal, Louis Vuitton

My Style Inspiration

Everyone has different opinions on the most talked about family in the world, The Kardashians but even though I hate to admit, the only and main reason I follow them is their fashion style. But there is one in particular who I really admire for her fashion risks and every day looks: Kendall Jenner. At only 19, she has taken the fashion world by storm and I have a couple of my favorite looks from her.

1. Billboards 2014

2. Victoria’s Secret Book Launch
3. 2014 VMA’s
4. Casual Look
5. American Music Awards 2013
She really is my style inspiration because I identify myself a lot with her style and body shape as well. She likes to be edgy but sexy and loves to wear blacks, and greys as well as neutral colors.

Eight new fashion designers to watch out for!

We all know fashion is ever evolving, I just recently found out about Rick Owens, being a fashion student I was very disappointed I had not heard about him, ever! I immediately researched him and fell in love. So I did some more research on new and upcoming fashion designers we should all watch out for just for our peace of mind. So you won’t miss out on all the greatness their is out there involving the fashion world.

69: 69 is a denim label from the United States, their concept is to be a “genderless” brand available for anyone, everywhere.

Fumika Uchida: Fumika is a Japanese brand that grew out of the popular vintage shop J’Antiques, even though there is not much known about it here, Fumika Uchida is very successful in Japan. It does incorporate many American elements, “modern interpretations of old world looks”.

Trager Delaney: “Trager Delaney’s real highlight is in the cleverness of the construction. Luxurious, thoughtful, and imaginative, Trager Delaney is the definition of wonderfully weird”.  The student from London’s Central Saint Martins has been out since 2012, but it still been able to reach popularity and success.

Julia Seemann: New indie designer from Switzerland has been making her mark, her style is described as geometric and splashy, but restrained. It is said to be half street car half sculpture.

Richa Aggarwal: Richi has been able to interpret traditional Indian pattern and craftsmanship with a sensibility. His designs incorporate beautiful mixed colors, patterns and layers.

Straeteas Carlucci: This brand from Australia has been able to redefine modern thinking while having timelessness. ” The dark-and-moody vibe of the brand might be at odds with the current fashion obsession with ‘70s silhouettes and light-and-bright colors, but the brand makes a compelling reason to stray back to the dark side.

Vita Kin:  “Vita Kin has really struck a chord with the international online style community. Her embroidered dresses, coats, and separates incorporate voluminous Ukrainian silhouettes and intricate folk design elements, and has already made an impact in the street style circuit, and still has no real website.

Collina Strada: known for its line of handbags, but has slowly been incorporating clothing into its lineup. Known for manipulating organic, soft fabrics into structured, geometric shapes, the clothes — like the bags — mix leather and chiffon, opaque and sheer, into a hard-meets-soft mash-up in the form of mix-and-match pieces that are fun to wear, too.

Digital Experiences to look at

In my recent Media Planning and Buying, I have to research a business entrepreneur by the name of Avinash Kaushik. In one of his blog post he talks about seven digital experiences that we need to study and understand why they are successful. In his blog post he names seven online websites that really have an incredible digital experience:

Songza: Smart Homepages That Anticipate and Deliver Delight

~ John Lewis: Thoughtful Cart and Checkout Experiences for Nonline Outcomes

~ Innocent: Passionate Copy and Heart-warming Visual Design

~ AAA Life Insurance : Truly Customer Centric “Convince Me To Buy” Experience

~ Shopbop: (Luxury) Ecommerce and Branding Done Right!

~ Security Choice: The Power of Conversion Through Transparency

~ Method: Amazing, Immersive, Love Evoking Brand Experiences.

He goes into saying that these websites have many variables that make it easy for consumers to find their products or questions to be answered. If you want to find out why check the websites out and see if they make it easy and create a digital experience similar to a the store experience.

The Rise of Animation Characters

In the past recent years the popularity of animated characters has risen. I mean we all know cartoons have always had a great following whether it be video characters, comic book superheroes, Disney princesses, etc. Not only have they targeted children and young adults but research shows that Millennials are really into the whole animated character market. In most recent news, Authentic Brands Group has created a mini Marilyn brand to target Millennials aged 17-34. “Mini Marilyn with her trademark blonde hair, beauty mark and red lips  wll come to life through 3-D and computer-generated imagery set to include feature films, television, short-form digital content, video games and live venue attractions”. (WWD)

“According to Jamie Salter, chairman and chief executive officer of ABG, the character will “empower young women to be confident, take risks and reach for their dreams.” (WWD)

Marilyn Monroe has always been a role model to women, to this day she is seen as one of the world’s most sexiest, confident and exuberant woman to walk this earth. She is the definition of confidence and sex appeal and think that this animated character will have a bright future in the market place. With the popularity of Hello Kitty and Disney movies coming back to screen women of every age are really loving and following these characters.

How Do You Follow Fashion?

Back in my English class we had to write an essay comparing and contrasting two subjects related to our field. Of course being that mine is fashion, I chose two write about fashion bloggers and fashion stylists. In my intense research of fashion bloggers I came across various websites pertaining to bloggers. I was amazed by the intensity of their dedication and influence in the fashion industry. So here I have a list of the top 5 fashion blogs that caught my attention and admiration.

1. Refinery 29. This website is my favorite it has everything fashion related like shopping guides, fashion news and amazing articles to keep you up-to-date on the must know of the century. They also write about health, fitness, wellness, beauty, and living.

2. The Man Repeller. I came across this website on my research for my paper and I loved it. This blog has everything I enjoy the most: fashion, humor, beauty, and trivia. I mean its all about fashion but its no fun if your brain has not been challenged.

3. College Fashion. I have been subscribed to this blog for awhile and its awesome. I can relate to it especially because I am a college student. Its articles pertain to everything college related plus being a fashion student.

4.Pinterest. Although Pinterest is not really a blog written by people, its written by you, personally. I think it is  a perfect start if you want to start a blog. You can follow all your favorite interests and likes.

5. Elite Daily. This website is not really a fashion blog but its articles are all written by students, professors and experts in the area. The articles range from any pop culture subject including fashion trends.
